2015 Post-Trip

FINAL FLING DOWN THE DELAWARE

September 7-8, 2015

Join fellow Mosaic Club members as they spend an overnight trip along the Delaware River, located between Pennsylvania and New York/New Jersey.  This scenic and recreational river is for canoeing and swimming.  There are miles and miles of beauty, excitement, tranquility and history.  What better way to end the fantastic Labor Day weekend with fellow Mosaic Club members on an overnight camping trip on the Delaware!

This trip is not for the novice paddler.  Basic paddle skills will be required. Those with limited canoeing experience might need to “touch up” their canoeing skills. This can be arranged during the Pocono Parks, Peaks, and Paddles getaway September 3-7.  Those who do need a paddling partner will be teamed up. The trip will be limited to only 16 people. Sign up early or chance not going!

The Plan:

After we pack up on Monday morning, we’ll make lunch and head for Matamoras on the Delaware River, about 45 minutes away.  We’ll paddle 4-5 hours the first day to Namanock Island and set up camp.  You will be sleeping in tents on the ground with your mattress pad and sleeping bag. After a scrumptious dinner, we’ll have a campfire.  The next morning, we’ll cook a delicious breakfast, and paddle 3 hours to Dingmans Ferry, where the takeout is.  The total trip is 18 miles over two days.

Gear:

Equipment will be needed such as a tent, sleeping bag, mattress pad, dry bag (or waterproof bag), change of clothes, and water bottles.  For those who don’t have any of the above, arrangements can be made to rent.  A complete list will be sent to those signed up.
